Kassie Rempel Founder and Owner,  Welcomes Fashion Group of Greater Washington, DC, Members and Friends to SimplySoles!

Armed with a tape gun and a toll free number, Kassie Rempel started SimplySoles back in 2004. Little did she know that in 2010 she’d be dishing out fashion advice, distributing her own line of shoes, and opening two retail boutiques located in the Metro DC area. “I founded SimplySoles on the premise that great shoes and accessories are the foundation for any wardrobe. They became the building blocks of my self-confidence. I knew women around the world could benefit from the same and needed better access to well-made, classic designs with present day details,” says Rempel.

An accountant by trade and an entrepreneur at heart, Rempel first channeled her love of shoes into a thriving catalog and online business offering designer labels and exclusive designs.  Then in 2008 Rempel launched lillybee, a reasonably-priced shoe line that stresses comfort without sacrificing style.  Says Rempel, “My lillybee line is designed to take you from the board room to the romper room. These are shoes specifically made for multi-talented, multi-tasking women with style, which is why wedges comprise over half of the collection.”

Fortune Small Business recognized SimplySoles’ Extreme Customer Service strategies which led to a cover story on Kassie and her developing brand.  Every order from SimplySoles comes with a hand-written thank you note, established customers can receive shipments before paying for them, and SimplySoles offers a generous recycling program benefiting both customers (they receive a 10% discount) and a local non-profit organization, Suited for Change, who provide gently worn shoes to women in transition.

Also, responding to customers requests for styling advice, in the “Kassie’s Korner” of SimplySoles.com is a section titled “Kassie’s Closet” (http://www.simplysoles.com/kassies_closet/)  which stylizes the products SimplySoles’ carries.  The approach is unique in that the completed looks are ready for purchase at unrelated, third-party stores like JCrew, Nordstorm, and Boden.  Says Rempel, “What I most enjoy is helping women feel proud and confident by pulling together looks that resonate. Of course we hope they will think of us when it comes to the footwear, handbags, and jewelry, but I also have tremendous pride in simply being a trusted resource for women.”

“My ultimate goal is simple: to make women look and feel good.”

Internet Retailer magazine named SimplySoles.com one of the Hot 100 Best Retail websites for 2010. Rempel has also been recognized by the Washington Business Journal as a “Top 40 Under 40” in 2010, one of the “Women Who Mean Business” in 2008, and one of the Top Five Emerging Entrepreneurs in 2008 by Entrepreneur Magazine.
