GREGORY J. FURMAN Founder & Chairman - The Luxury Marketing Council President - Furman Communications & Marketing

President of Furman Communications & Marketing and Founder & Chairman of The Luxury Marketing Council, Greg Furman has held a number of senior positions in different industry groups. He served as policy advisor and speech writer to the Ontario Minister of Education; head of public affairs and issues management for Sun Oil's Canadian Subsidiary, Suncor; Managing Director of Advertising and Sales Promotion for the NYSE; and head of J. Walter Thompson's corporate image PR business. During his three-year association with Bergdorf Goodman his responsibilities included marketing strategy, advertising, PR, interactive initiatives, direct mail and the store's $20 million catalogue business. In November 1994 Greg started his own consulting firm and founded The Luxury Marketing Council.

 

The Luxury Marketing Council, a group of some 3,000 CEOs and top marketing executives, now consists of 875 luxury firms in 36 cities worldwide. Colin Kroll is the Vice President of Product and Engineering at Jetsetter, a memberof the Gilt Groupe, and has served on its leadership team since its inception.

 

At Jetsetter, he has been responsible for shaping the product experience of the company’s web and mobile products. In 2011, Jetsetter won a webby award for "Best Travel Website" and was nominated for a Crunchie award for “Best Social Commerce Application”.

Prior to launching the Jetsetter website, Colin built software for various start-ups in New York including Right Media, Bounty Jobs, and Yahoo. As a Yahoo employee, Colin led the team responsible for building the web services platform for its next generation advertiser and publisher platform, “APT!”. He has a pending patent for his work on the platform.

 

Colin studied Computer Science at Oakland University. He currently lives in the Gramercy Park section of New York City and enjoys software engineering and open source technologies, simplifying common tasks through the power of the web, and elegant product experiences that “just work”.

 

 

Betsy Lowther is a Senior Digital Strategist with the 360 Digital Influence group of Ogilvy PR. She has more than 10 years of experience in fashion and lifestyle journalism and social media, most recently serving as the senior editor at the Washington Post’s luxury fashion glossy, FW: Fashion Washington, and a styles editor at the company’s hip commuter daily, Express.

Prior to joining the Post, she worked as a freelance journalist for five years while living in D.C., Beijing and Singapore, and served as a contributor for such leading consumer publications as Lucky magazine as well as an Asia correspondent for fashion industry “bible” Women’s Wear Daily. Betsy began her career in magazines in New York City, last as an associate editor at Harper’s Bazaar.

 

Betsy is also the creator of fashion/design blog FashionisSpinach.com, recognized by leading brands and publications as one of the most influential style blogs in the world. FashionisSpinach.com has been featured in a number of top publications, including Newsweek.com, Newsday and the Financial Times, which named it one of the world’s six “best fashion blogs” in November 2009.
